CCDC Company

Our award winning company is made up of a group of dedicated dancers wanting to dance at a competitive and professional level. We have two separate companies: a performance company for dancers wanting to participate in local performances and a competitive company for dancers wanting to compete in and outside of Corpus. Dancers can and are encouraged to participate in both. Competitive dancers participate in performances, competitions, dance conventions, and are given opportunities to dance professionally. Several of our dancers have gotten their introduction to professional dance through paid music video/commercial or live performance opportunities through our network of talented local artists and businesses. Our hip hop company is ranked #1 in the region and we are the only local company with regionally and nationally ranked dancers and scholarship winners.

Dancers competing in hip hop are required to take a minimum of 2 hip hop classes per week and attend rehearsals. Dancers wanting to compete in contemporary and/or jazz are required to take at minimum one jazz, two contemporary, and two ballet classes per week as well as attend required rehearsals. Dancers are encouraged to take more if and when able. Because we know drill team dancers already have a heavy practice schedule, class requirements will differ. Drill team dancers wanting to compete with us will be required to take advanced jazz, advanced contemporary, and (if competing in hip hop) advanced hip hop. All dancers have the option of either taking classes at CC Ballroom by the Bay or having their classes signed off if they plan to take classes at a different studio.

Auditions for our company will be held on September 25, 2021

Contemporary/Jazz 12:30-1:30

Hip Hop 2-3pm

Dancers will be taught a combination and asked to perform the combination in smaller groups. Dancers auditioning to compete in jazz or contemporary may also be asked to perform specific technical elements such as turns and leaps.

We will do our best to find a way to include all dancers who want to compete. Auditions give valuable experience to those wanting to advance as well as help our faculty and choreographers determine who may be best suited for particular styles/pieces.
